List of Skin Diseases You Should Know About

The following list of skin diseases has been created to educate those who wish to learn more about the beauty of skin. A skin disease is not just a disease of the skin – it can also be a disease of the spirit itself. It’s a reason for teens and even adults to feel insecure about how they look or, feel the need to hide because of the scars it has created. A number of women strive to be beautiful – but for some who suffer from one, or maybe a few in the list of skin diseases; it’s almost like such beauty can never be possible. As much as we want to ignore the fact that “beauty is only skin deep”, the skin itself plays an important role in the social life of people. Here is a list of skin diseases that one should look out for.

  1. Acne is one of the most common problems in the list of skin diseases. It is mainly found in the face, back and the chest and can affect females and males from ages ten through forty. It is known as an inflammatory disease of the skin’s sebaceous glands and hair follicles.
  2. Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) can also be found in the list of skin diseases that usually affects a person during their past middle life. It may appear around the upper abdomen or lower chest area. It may also appear along the nerve pathways: including the eye; a serious ocular complication can lead a person to blindness.
  3. Roseaola Infantum (HHV-6) and Sixth Disease (HHV-7) both these skin diseases under the list of skin diseases are caused by Exanthem subitum, meaning “sudden rash”. It affects both infants and young children under the age of 3 years. It is characterized by an abrupt fever – 39-40 degrees Celsius that can last for several days. It begins on the trunk and spreads to the limbs – usually not affecting the face, but appears again after a few hours.
  4. Herpes (cold sores) is a viral disease, generally involves the lip most known as cold sores, it is also found around the mouth area – but can also involve the face.
  5. Also found in the list of skin diseases is Ringworm (or round worm) which is a fungal infection of the skin or even the nails.
  6. Tinea Capitis, a fungal infection found in the scalp. It involves the hair or head, the eyebrows and eyelashes or even – the skin alone.
  7. Then, there’s Tinea Versicolor or also known as “Peter Elam’s Desease” – is located at the back, upper parts of the arms – the chest, neck and under arm. It presents as the eruption of discolored skin.
  8. Boils and Carbuncles are also included under the list of skin diseases. They are a condition that can appear anywhere on the skin – but often found on the scalp, the legs – back and arms. It is an inflammation of hair follicles that has been blocked or even damaged by friction and itching or even shaving. Boils are tender and painful, and often swells in a fluctuant manner around an area that forms around the follicles of the hair. Carbuncles are a group or a cluster of boils.
  9. Planar warts (Verruca Pedis) are found on the soles of the feet and those found on the heel are surrounded by hyperkeratosis or callus-like skin. This skin condition is rough and small is a cauliflower-like growth. This kind of wart is painful, found on weight-bearing parts of the feet.
  10. Impetigo is a dangerously contagious skin infection mentioned here on our list of skin diseases and is caused by bacteria found among children. It is not common with adults whatsoever, the name itself us derived from the latin word “Impetere” (“assail”). Impetigo is also known as “school sores”.
  11. Ordinary Impetigo is a pustular (small pimples of pus) and is induced by streptococcal germs. It first starts out as blisters that – when ruptured – leaves a reddish colored base covered by a yellowish crust. Another unwanted skin disease added to this list of skin diseases.
  12. Bullous Impetigo is large, delicate blisters that are caused by staph germs. Often does this affect the face and can also appear elsewhere. The blister that this skin disease forms, are very thin walls that cave in and leaves a bright red color.

Here is a list of skin diseases classified under “Dermatitis”

  1. Dermatitis or known as Eczema is also found in the list of skin diseases as the inflammation of skin that is caused by bacteria or fungi. It can also be caused by Parasites or even foreign allergens. Characterized by itching, blisters and redness of skin – even the pigmentation of the skin, thickening and even pigmentation are the chronic forms of Dermatitis.
  2. Atopic Dermatitis, also known as a chronic disease affects the skin – caused by, generally – allergic reactions.
  3. Perioral Dermatitis (muzzle rash) is rather, really common within women and rarely does it affect or even occur in men. It affects a person with oily skin, appearing around the mouth or even as groups of itchy or even tender, small and red spots.

The above list of skin diseases does not contain all skin diseases that can be found in humans. It is more a list of skin diseases that is more common. How important is beauty to us?
